Robert is a proud member of the Cahuilla and Cupeño Band of Native Americans. Originally born in San Diego, California Robert moved to the southern and east coast at a young age. Having grown up both on and off his reservation he fell in love with different cultural stories he experienced while moving. Likewise, it built an appreciation for how controlling the narrative of cultural representation is a key facet for minorities to have a voice in society. His love of stories led him to a BA in English Literature from UC Berkeley in 2019.
While at Berkeley, Robert was a member of Teach in Prisons and Indigenous and Native Coalition. These organizations opened him up to the need of those less privileged being able to have access to education as well as focusing on an individual's growth rather than their past. He is a firm believer that underrepresented communities are the backbone of American culture.
Robert is excited to join the e2c team as a contributing writer. He hopes to use his writing for communities that feel they have lost a voice. He aims to focus on marginalized communities and how the displacement of wealth in America affects us all.
