Originally from Richmond California, Carlyn Wisherop is a fourth year student finishing her B.S. in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics at UCLA. As a mixed Filipina, Carlyn's primary aim is to diversify and enact change in all aspects of healthcare to improve the holistic wellness for historically and currently marginalized groups. Her current focus is programming at the university levels by finding ways to make STEM education more equitable and accessible for all students, but more particularly for underrepresented minorities. 

 

Carlyn’s excited to join Empower to Change as the Health and Wellness Director. She believes in supporting candidates whose action plans include steps to dismantle the systemic racism, sexism, ableism, and classism upheld by the medical industrial complex. Collaborating with other passionate and dedicated womxn of color, she and the Empower to Change team is excited to get to work.
