Lead Contributing Writer, Bryanna Baysa Fong

Bryanna is a diasporic Taishanese Ilokana who was born and raised on occupied Ohlone Land (Bay Area). She is a Cal Poly SLO graduate with a B.S. in Child Development and minors in Psychology, Ethnic Studies, and Spanish. Currently, Bryanna is pursuing a graduate degree in Sociology at University of Hawai’i at Mānoa.

 

Her research interests include the psychosocial impacts of colonialism and imperialism, decolonization, racial and ethnic identity development, and Pilipinx diaspora.

In addition to her academic background, Bryanna also has experience as a legal assistant for an immigration law firm, a workshop leader for a San Francisco-based child advocacy organization, and has been an educator for over six years.

 

She is thrilled to be part of the Empower to Change team as a Contributing Writer, in hopes to make information readily accessible, encourage action and discourse on issues of equity and social justice, and uplift voices of marginalized communities.
